1) Shelving of documents
2) Location of documents
3) Shifting of collections
4) Shelf rectification
5) Maintenance of shelf list
6) Keep vigilance and monitoring through CCTV Camera.
7) Torned, soiled and damaged documents removed from the
shelves for repair and re-binding at time to time.
8) Withdrawal of out dated books consults with subject
teacher.
PRESERVATION:
Preservation
and conservation of reading materials are one of the most important aspects of
library obligation and it is done by different ways-
a) Cleaning and dusting of
collections.
b) Benzene-Thymol is spread over
the fungus infected documents.
c) Naphthalene is used at
regular basis.
d) Damaged documents are
removed.
e) Mending and binding of
documents.
Moreover,
National Mission for Manuscript (NMM) is playing an important role for
preservation of manuscript through close collaboration with chemists and paper
technologists.
WEEDING OUT OF BOOKS AND OTHER MATERIALS:
A separate withdrawal register is maintained. Pedestrian
books, books worn out, Reference books which are quite out of date whose later
edition are available in the market are weeded out. At present 4728
copies of books are withdrawal.
1st phase:
The books which are damaged, brittle condition and un refunded are recorded
here. These books are checked by the subject teachers and approval of GB.
2nd phase: Higher
Secondary books were donated to schools as the course was withdrawn from
college. The whole process is done as per approval of GB.
